Open students 9.5 years and over

 

COURSE OUTCOMES

Upon completion of the program students will have: 

 

1. Receive a nationally recognised qualification. 

 

2. Trained, rehearsed and performed in a variety of different dance styles. 

 

3. Gained good understanding and knowledge of all forms of dance and the entertainment industry and developed a solid foundation in these areas; 

 

4. Gained a basic knowledge of safe dance practices. 

 

Certificate I In Dance

The Certificate I in Dance Syllabus has several core subjects, and is supplemented by a range of electives. Classical ballet and jazz form the foundations of the course and provide introductory technical training in dance and other allied performing arts subjects. The aim of this program is to provide young people with the technical and performance skills, knowledge and attitudes to begin the process of establishing a career within the entertainment industry. 

All units and certificates are NATIONALLY RECOGNISED and can be used as part of future full-time courses or in aid of employment in the industry. 

 

COURSE STRUCTURE

IN THIS COURSE YOU WILL COMPLETE A TOTAL OF 6 UNITS. 

 

THIS INCLUDES 3 CORE UNITS: 

CUADAN101 Develop foundation dance techniques 

CUAWHS101 Follow safe dance practices 

CUFIND201A Develop and apply creative arts industry knowledge 

 

AND TWO ELECTIVE UNITS: 

CUADAN102 Develop foundation ballet dance technique 

CUADAN103 Develop foundation jazz dance technique 

 

 

HOURS REQUIRED

 

You will be required to attend the classes listed below. 

The levels for dance listed below are a benchmark. You can complete the course at a higher level. Please look at our current timetable to view times and days they are on offer.

THEORY (1hr per week) 

 

Other hours: There will be times when you are required to do assessments or performance parts of your units externally. These will not fall within the normal class schedule

 

 

Certificate II in Dance

 

Course code: CUA20111 

Open to all students from Year 7

 

COURSE OUTCOMES

Upon completion of the program students will have: 

 

1. Trained, rehearsed and performed in a variety of different dance styles. 

2. Gained good understanding and knowledge of all forms of dance and the entertainment industry and developed a solid foundation in these areas; 

3. Explored & developed individual artistic skills through a number of performing experiences and opportunities 

4. Developed confidence and sufficiently prepared and equipped to further their artistic studies at a higher level and successfully auditioned into full-time training academies and programs 

5. Gained a basic knowledge of safe dance practices. 

6. Received a nationally recognised qualification. 

7. Gained knowledge on injury prevention.

CERTIFICATE II IN DANCE & PERFORMING ARTS

 

All units and certificates are NATIONALLY RECOGNISED and can be used as part of future full-time courses or in aid of employment in the industry.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

For the above Dance qualifications, there are no “hard-line” formal entry standards for technical competencies. Each subject is based on assessments and the physical ability of each age level. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)* or pre-mapped competencies are available - additional fees and “gap” course homework may apply.

 

Certificate III

Open from Year 9

 

COURSE OUTCOMES

2. Gained good understanding and knowledge of all forms of dance and the entertainment industry and developed a solid foundation in these areas; 

3. Explored & developed individual artistic skills through a number of performing experiences and opportunities 

4. Developed confidence and sufficiently prepared and equipped themselves to further their artistic studies at a higher level and successfully auditioned into full-time training academies and programs 

5. Gained a basic knowledge of safe dance practices. 

6. Received a nationally recognised qualification. 

8. Gained knowledge on injury prevention. 

9. Trained and planned as an assistant teacher in various situations. 

10. Have the capabilities to run a dance class unsupervised within any PSAD facility.

CERTIFICATE III IN DANCE & ASSISTANT DANCE TEACHING

 

The Certificate III in Assistant Dance Teaching course is the entry level qualification to launch your career as a Dance Teacher. Dance teaching involves instructing students in dance performance, composition, safety in dance and dance appreciation. You will also be promoting physical fitness, emotional wellbeing and their creativity through dance. 

This course will give you the qualifications to teach at any PSAD studio as a substitute teacher. This is the first level to becoming an employed member of the studios and is a fantastic opportunity for any aspiring teacher or performer.
